Scope
This policy applies to all KCAI employees, administrative, and academic departments.
Policy
All potential technology acquisitions must be evaluated and approved by CT. When considering any technology solution, departments must ensure that CT has the opportunity to check for compatibility with the KCAI network and systems. Depending on the circumstances, technology may be funded by CT or departmental budgets or in an agreed-upon combination.
Non-Standard Technology
CT may not support non-standard technology. Therefore, before purchasing non-standard technology, the purchaser must identify the source of support for the software.
Software
CT will manage all departmental software licensing, renewal, and deployment. Software is made available on an as-needed basis based on job responsibilities.
Hardware Refreshes
Reliable technology is essential to maintaining smooth operations of KCAI functions. Therefore, technology should remain current to ensure compatibility with required capabilities, security constructs, and innovation.
● General use and departmental computer labs will be eligible to be refreshed every five years.
