Purpose
This policy describes Campus Technology’s (“CT”) role regarding specialized curricular technology outside of KCAI standard technologies.
Definition
“Curricular technology” refers to hardware and software that fills a specific curricular need for academic departments. Such technology includes, but is not limited to, specialized, non-KCAI-standard software; graphics tablets (WACOM or otherwise); image or object reproduction solutions; scanners; and adapters for laptops.
This policy does not cover any Audio/Visual equipment (large displays, projectors, audio equipment) owned by KCAI as those are deployed and managed by the Media Center.
Scope
This policy applies to all specialized technology in academic departments necessary for the enhancement and education of students.
Policy
CT will manage the purchase, setup, and deployment of all curricular technology purchased for departmental use. All departments and individuals should consult with CT when exploring technology solutions to ensure compatibility and manageability of the solution. Funding for curricular technology may come from the departmental budget, CT’s budget, or some combination of both, depending on several factors (need, price, etc.)
